On February 1, 2017 at approximately 7:30PM Transit Police officers were conducting Point of Entry Policing at the MBTAs Chinatown station. While there they had their attention drawn to a male, later identified as Xavier Galatis, 24, of Medford. Galatis entered through the fare gates without paying his fare. Officers approached Galatis for the purpose of issuing a citation and subsequently discovered there were warrants in existence for Galatis arrest issued from Cambridge District Court for Assault & Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and Threats to Commit a Crime.
Galatis was issued a citation, placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

On September 24, 2016 at approximately 8:40PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA Wonderland station for a report of an aggressive pit bull on board an MBTA bus. Upon arrival officers were met by the bus operator who informed the officers he as well as other passengers felt unsafe due to the pit bulls aggressive behavior. Officers approached the owner of the dog, later identified as Johnny Sadm, 19, of Dorchester, and explained to him the dogs behavior was making his fellow passengers feel unsafe. Officers also informed Sadm he would have to exit the bus and they would assist him with alternate means of transportation.
Sadm, using course and foul language, responded by informing the officers he was not getting off the bus and the officers would have to drag him and his dog off. Due to Sadms threats and demeanor officers were forced to place the other passengers onto another bus. At this time Sadm exited the bus and walked into the bus way but rather then continuing on his way Sadm felt the need to shout out insults directed at the officers creating a tumultuous environment. Sadm then held his dog in an aggressive threatening manner and asked his dog "Do you want to eat them?" referring to the officers. Sadm was asked to vacate the station several times but refused and continued his threatening and disorderly conduct. Subsequently officers attempted to arrest Sadm however he violently resisted and attempted to swing his pit bull at the officers. Eventually Sadm was subdued and placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. Sadm was found to be in possession of what officers believed to be cocaine. He will be arraigned sometime today for Assault, Trespassing, Resisting Arrest and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The dog was released to a female companion.

Transit Police detectives along with representatives of the Suffolk County District Attorneys Office have identified the male as Boston University student, Xianhu Chen, 17, of China. NO further updates.
On September 7, 2016 at approximately 12:15AM Transit Police officers received a radio call to investigate a possible body located on the Worcester Line tracks by Boston University under the Mass Pike. Upon arrival officers did observe a lifeless body. Transit Police detectives on scene report the following preliminary information; a male, approximate age of 18, while trespassing on the right of way was struck by a MBTA Commuter Rail train. The male was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained. Transit Police detectives along with representatives of the Suffolk County DAs Office are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

The victim has been identified as Eric Parker, 27, of Sudbury. NO further updates.
On June 18, 2016 at approximately 4:20pm Transit Police officers assigned to the South district received a radio call to respond to Franklin for a person possibly struck by an MBTA train. Multiple Transit Police units responded along with Franklin Fire and EMS. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: a male, approximately 26 years of age, while trespassing on the right of way was struck by an outbound train on the Forge Park line. The male has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained. Transit Police detectives are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

On March 3, 2017 at approximately 11:45PM an off duty Transit Police officer was travelling on an outbound Orange Line train. When the train stopped at Community College the off duty officers attention was drawn to an unknown disturbance on another car and he also overheard an MBTA transportation official state " Get off the train, get off the train", to those responsible for the disturbance. The pair who instigated the disturbance a father and his daughter, later identified as David Muse, 48, and Madison Muse, 22, both of Saugus exited the train and begin to walk on the platform. As they did so Madison Muse was yelling racial slurs and expletives. At this time the off duty officer began to video record Madison Muses behavior and offensive racially charged language. Upon noticing this Madison Muse violently attacked the officer and was joined by David Muse. The attack continued onto the platform and eventually was broken up. Madison Muse hurled multiple racial slurs at the off duty officer. At this time the officer, whose phone was dislodged during the attack, attempted to use a call box to contact Transit Police Operations was physically prevented from doing by both Muse as they punched and kicked the off duty officer several times.
Ultimately an MBTA employee was able to contact TPD who responded and placed Muses into custody for Assault & Battery w/a Dangerous Weapon, Assault & Battery and Intimidation of a Witness and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. The officers noted the Muse exhibited signs of intoxication. during The booking process it was discovered David Muse had an outstanding warrant in existence for his arrest issued from Somerville District Court for OUI-Liquor 2nd Offence and Operating with a Suspended License.
Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan praised the off duty officer for his tremendous restraint and professionalism, " This is yet another example Transit Police officers, whether on or off duty, are dedicated to having the safest system as possible. Our officer showed tremendous restraint in the face of such ignorance. We are very grateful he was not seriously injured and we will follow this case throughout the judicial process to ensure the Muses are held responsible for their criminal actions ".

South Boston man wanted for Assault on Police caught fare evading

On September 29, 2016 at approximately 10:00PM members of the TPDs Crime Suppression Team were on patrol at the MBTAs Andrew Sq. station when their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Stephen Berry, 46, of South Boston. Berry fare evaded through the fare gates by "Piggybacking" in behind a paying patron. Officers approached Berry to issue a citation and subsequently discovered he had several warrants in existence for his arrest issued by Quincy District Court for Assault & Battery on a Police Officer, Larceny Over 250.00, Receiving Stolen Property and Receiving a Stolen MV. Berry was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.
