Boston man identified Arrested for Assault

On August 3, 2016 at approximately 8:00AM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTAs Broadway Station for a report of an assault. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim, a female, who relayed the following information : Victim was on a red line train, as the train stopped at Andrew Sq. to allow passengers to board a male entered and began to threaten and intimidate other riders and pushed his way through. The victim began to video tape his conduct and the male threatened and then assaulted the victim knocking her phone to the ground. The assailant then exited at Broadway Station.

The victim provided Transit Police with the video which depicted the aforementioned male assailant. As a result of a thorough investigation by Transit Police Detectives, Vincente Lomba, 25, of Boston was arrested on 09/09/2016 at Andrew Sq. station. Vincente will face the following charges; Intimidation of a Witness, Assault and Battery and Threats to Commit a Crime.

Boston man with multiple warrants draws attention to himself

On May 23, 2016 at approximately 11:35AM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District were conducting Point of Entry Policing at the MBTAs Davis Sq., station. While there they had their attention drawn to a male, later identified as Christopher Hoffman, 30, of Boston smoking a cigarette in close proximity to several "NO SMOKING" signs. Officers approached Hoffman and subsequently discovered there were several warrants in existence for Hoffmans arrest issued by Attleboro District Court for Uttering a False Check 2 counts and  Larceny Over 250.00 2 counts, Wrentham District Court for Uttering a False Check 2 counts and Larceny Over 250.00 2 counts and Milford District Court for Uttering a False Check and Larceny Over 250.00. Hoffman was transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.


 During the booking process Transit Police were notified by the Rhode Island State Police there was an extraditable warrant for Hoffman from their state. Hoffman to be additionally charged with being Fugitive from Justice.

Boston man assaults female at Back Bay Station


On December 19th, 2016 at approximately 4:30PM a Transit Police officer assigned to the Central District was on patrol at the MBTAs Back Bay station when his attention was drawn to a commotion near the fare gates. The officer proceeded in that direction and came upon a 21 year old female who was the victim of an assault. The victim was distraught and appeared to have sustained a facial injury. The female victim informed the officer of the following : while exiting an orange line train a male, later identified as a 53 year old resident of Boston, violently pushed her out of the way so he could exit the train. The victim requested an apology which was not offered. The victim in turn removed the males eye glasses from his face and demand he apologize for his actions. As a response the male, with a closed fist, struck the female in the face. (An independent witness confirmed this account)


The female victim was transported by Boston EMS for treatment and evaluation to a local area hospital. The male will be summoned to Boston Municipal Court-Central Division for Assault & Battery.

On April 24, 2016 at approximately 6:45PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to Warren and Moreland Streets Roxbury for a report of an MBTA bus operator who was assaulted. Upon arrival officers met with the bus operator as well as independent witnesses. Officers ascertained the following information: a male, later identified as Jorge Diaz-Vasquez, 44, of Boston boarded an MBTA bus but refused to pay his fare. The operator explained to Diaz-Vasquez he must pay his fare or exit the bus. Diaz-Vasquez stepped off the bus and spat upon the bus operator striking her and then fled the area.


Shortly thereafter Transit Police Officers while at Dudley MBTA station observed Diaz-Vasquez. As Officers approached Diaz-Vasquez he pushed a shopping carriage at the officers and fled. Officers gave chase and after a lengthy pursuit apprehended Diaz-Vasquez and placed him into custody for various assault charges. During the booking process Diaz-Vasquez provided a false name, officers subsequently discovered his true identity which revealed several warrants in existence for his arrest issued from Charlestown District Court for violation of the Commonwealths Drug Laws.

Boston man wanted on Civil Rights Violations arrested by TPD



On April 5, 2016 at approximately 6:45pm Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District were conducting Point of Entry Policing at the MBTAs Back Bay Station. Officers had their attention drawn to a male, later identified as Michael Nalbantian, 29, of Boston. Nalbantian was loitering in the entrance to the station and appeared to be stuffing marijuana into a cigarette. Officers approached and subsequently discovered there were several warrants in existence for Nalbantians arrest issued out of Boston Municipal Court for: Wanton Destruction of Property, A&B to Intimidate w/Bodily Injury, Armed Robbery and two Counts of Civil Rights Violations. Nalbantian was placed into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. During this process officers located marijuana in Nalbantians cigarette.

On August 1, 2016 at approximately 3:30PM a Transit Police officer assigned to the North District was on patrol at the MBTAs Harvard Sq. Station. While there his attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Travis Artist, 36, of Boston. Artist entered through the fare gates without paying. The officer approached Artist and issued him a citation for Fare Evasion. Upon receiving the citation Artist created a disturbance and was subsequently ejected and trespassed from the station.
 


Approximately 10 minutes later Artist, ignoring his trespass notice, again entered  into the station. The officer approached and explained that due to his tumultuous behavior moments earlier he would have exit the station. As the officer was escorting Artist out of the station Artist became verbally aggressive and refused to comply with the officers commands. A struggled ensued Artist violently struck the officer in the face. Due to the officers determination and assistance from a private security guard he was able to subdue Artist. During the struggle the officer sustained multiple lacerations to the mouth and was stuck by an uncapped needle in his arm.



Artist was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process and will be arraigned sometime today in Cambridge District Court for Assault & Battery on  PO, Resisting Arrest and Trespassing.



The officer was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.

On October 24, 2016 at approximately 9:30PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTAs North Station Commuter Rail for a report of a male physically assaulting a dog. Upon arrival officers were met by witnesses who informed the officers of the following; a male, later identified as John Bowen, 46, of Boston, was striking his dog with a closed fist, kneeling on the dog in a forceful manner and lifting the dog off the ground by its leash.


Bowen and his dog, an 11 month old Husky named Sarah, were still on scene. While an officer interacted with Bowen another TPD officer was shown a video of the assault confirming witness statements. Bowen was placed into custody for Cruelty to Animals and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process and is expected to be arraigned sometime today.


Sarah was placed into the custody of City of Boston Animal Control and brought to Angel Memorial for evaluation.

On May 22, 2016 at approximately 10:30PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the MBTAs Wellington Station for a report of a male who committed a public act of Lewdness. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim, a female, who furnished the following information:  while the victim was travelling on an inbound Orange Line train in the vicinity of Chinatown Station she observed a male, later identified as Gabriel Majok,, 37, of Boston committing a lewd act while attempting to engage the victim in conversation.


Officers approached Majok and placed him into custody for Open & Gross Lewdness and transported him to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

Boston man arrested for Trafficking Cocaine on MBTA


On January 11, 2017 at approximately 7:30pm plainclothes Transit Police officers assigned to the Departments Crime Suppression Team were travelling on a inbound Blue Line train. During this time their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Geronimo Alomar , 67, of Boston. Geronimo was engaged in conversation with another male passenger however the officers noticed he was attempting to conceal a glassine bag in his hand containing what the officers believed to be cocaine.


Alomar exited at the MBTAs State Street station where he was approached by the officers. Subsequent to an investigation Alomar was found to be in possession of approximately 56 grams of Cocaine and Suboxine strips for which he did not possess a prescription. Alomar was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.


 Alomoar will be charge with Trafficking a Class B Substance and Possession of a Controlled Class B Substance.

Boston man identified located arrested in Lewdness investigation

On April 28, 2016 the Transit Police posted photographs of a person of interest relative to an Open & Gross Lewdness investigation. (see posting here). Subsequent to an investigation by Transit Police detectives, Keith Smith, 21, of Dorchester was placed into custody on 04/28/2016. It is expected Smith will be arraigned sometime today in Dorchester District Court.



During Smiths booking process it was discovered there were two warrants in existence for his arrest issued from Roxbury District Court for Trespassing and Dedham District Court B&E-Felony and Larceny Over 250.00

On March 27, 2016 at approximately 8:45PM the two female passengers while traveling on a Red Line train in the vicinity of Park Street Station noticed a male sitting directly across from them intentionally exposing his genitals. The offending male exited at Park Street Station and according to a witness may have attempted to "grope" another female as she ascended up the stairs.

On April 4, 2016 at approximately 4:45PM, after a thorough investigation by Transit Police Detectives, Robert McCarty, 40, of Boston was arrested at MBTA Harvard Sq., Station for two counts of Open & Gross Lewdness. McCarty was transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. McCarty was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court-Central Division.

Boston man wanted for Rape caught Up Skirting at MBTA station

O September 20, 2016 at approximately 3:30PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the MBTAs Porter Sq. station for a report of a male who was secretly taking videos of female passengers. Upon arrival the officer was met by a female victim who informed them a fellow passenger pointed out a male, later identified as James Cullers,51, of Boston and stated " Hes video taping up your skirt". The victim confronted Cullers who admitted to the act and agreed to delete the video. The victim then pointed out Cullers to the officer.



The officer approached Cullers who was holding a cellular telephone in his hand. Upon approach of the officer Culler began to manipulate the phone and apologize. Subsequent to an investigation Cullers was placed into custody for Making a Secret Video (Known as the Up Skirting Law) and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. During the booking process it was discovered there was a warrant for Cullers arrest issued from Wareham District Court for Rape and 2 counts of Indecent Assault & Battery on a person Over 14.

It is expected Cullers will be arraigned today in Cambridge District Court.

South Boston man wanted for Assault on Police caught fare evading

On September 29, 2016 at approximately 10:00PM members of the TPDs Crime Suppression Team were on patrol at the MBTAs Andrew Sq. station when their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Stephen Berry, 46, of South Boston. Berry fare evaded through the fare gates by "Piggybacking" in behind a paying patron. Officers approached Berry to issue a citation and subsequently discovered he had several warrants in existence for his arrest issued by Quincy District Court for Assault & Battery on a Police Officer, Larceny Over 250.00, Receiving Stolen Property and Receiving a Stolen MV. Berry was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

On August 19, 2016 at approximately 10:30am a Transit Police officer assigned to the Central District was on patrol at the MBTAs Back Bay station. While there he was informed a male had just entered into the womens restroom. The officer immediately began to proceed in that direction and was ultimately directed to a male, later identified as Taha Hamid, 28, of Dorchester who was observed exiting the womens bathroom. At this time the officer was approached and informed by a female victim of the following; while inside the womens bathroom Hamid entered and pulled down his pants fully exposing his genitals to the victim. After doing so Hamid then proceeded to urinate into the sink and stated " This is a mans bathroom now !".


The officer placed Hamid into custody for Open & Gross Lewdness and transported him to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. Hamid will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.

Boston man arrested illegal firearm on MBTA

On October 6, 2016 at approximately 7:50AM a Transit Police officer working a detail at the MBTAs Government Center station was notified by an MBTA employee there was a male, later identified as Isiah Chaffon, 19, of Boston on the Blue Line platform possibly in possession of a firearm. The T employee further reported the male appeared to be unconscious and was slumped/sitting against the wall. The officer immediately responded to the area and observed Chaffon who appeared to be in a unconscious state sitting against the wall with the barrel of a firearm protruding from his waistband.

The officer quickly took possession of the firearm, a 380 caliber handgun with 3 rounds in the magazine, and was able to rouse Chaffin from his unconscious state. The officer determined Chaffin did not have a License to Carry a firearm and he was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. During the booking process it was discovered Chaffin had several warrants in existence for his arrest issued from Roxbury, Chelsea and Newton District Courts. Additionally, Chaffin was in possession of  controlled narcotics without being duly prescribed to him.

Chiffon was arrainged in Boston Municipal Court-Central Division on 10/07/2016 for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession of Controlled Narcotics.

On March 2, 2017 at approximately 11:20AM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTAs Park Street station for a report of an Assault in Progress. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim, a 26 year old male, who informed the officers of the following : he was approached by a male, later identified as Shaun Goodwin, 41, of Boston whom had harassed him in the past. Goodwin challenged the victim to a physical confrontation as the victim was purchasing a Charlie ticket. The victim attempted to walk away, at this time Goodwin removed a hypodermic needle from his pocket and threatened the victim with it. The victim fled and called police.
 

Goodwin, who was still on scene, was placed into custody for Assault by Means of Dangerous Weapon and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.
